Fashion week is a time when all of the established and up-and-coming designers showcase their collections for the season. The Copenhagen fall 2022 fashion week is one of the most underrepresented compared to the iconic New York, Paris, Milan, and London fashion weeks. The Copenhagen fashion week is extremely influential and sets the tone for the trends of the next six months. This season varied from moody winter to bright neon colors.
Holzweiler FW22
Holzweiler is a family brand, owned by siblings Susanne and Andreas Holzweiler. This brand was founded in 2012 and has increased in popularity since working with Martin Whatson, The Munch Museum, the brand Skappel, and many more. This season Holzweiler was inspired by weather and the environment. Maria Skappel Holzweiler, head of design, and her team presented the collection in a film about a group of people on a roadtrip.
The gorgeously shot film begins with friends in a car and ends with the characters at a cabin. The film showcases the “weathered” clothing of suede coats, suits, puffers, and jeans. The clothes are meant to be sustainable and long lasting while also staying up to date with the trends.
Malene Birger FW22
Maja Dixdotter, the creative director at Malene Birger has worked to establish a brand that empowers women and embraces minimalism in a way for everyone to enjoy. Malene Birger embodies the Scandinavian aesthetic and embraces it in this collection.
The cream knits, oversized coats, and flowy silhouettes were inspired by Dixdotter’s trip to Florence and the tones of the city. This collection compliments the refined, elegant style with the loose, Scandinavian style.
Baum und Pferdgarten FW22
Baum und Pferdgarten was founded in 1999 and has become one of the biggest Danish fashion houses. Baum und Pferdgarten’s goal is to inspire through the use of its bold prints and encourage people to experiment with their style. The brand’s collections often contain bright colors and playful patterns.
This collection focused on the brand’s growth and change which was hinted at as it was showcased under a full winter moon. The collection ranged from quilted coats, balaclavas, glossy red skirts, and contained a variety of colors.
Ganni FW22
Ganni is run by the husband and wife duo, Nicolaj Reffstrup and Ditte Reffstrup, since 2009. The brand has grown exponentially since and has even partnered with LVMH to continue to expand the company and reach a wider audience. Ganni’s mission is to empower and connect those who wear the brand’s clothes.
The collection that was presented at the Copenhagen FW22 fashion week and includes fun satin and snakeskin prints, fitted suits, and laced dresses. The collection was meant to create a resurgence of hope and courage after the world’s recent hardship. It was also inspired by the 1990s.
Saks Potts FW22
Saks Potts was created in 2014 by Cathrine Saks and Barbara Potts. It is based in Copenhagen and has been worn by many celebrities such as Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Cardi B, and more. This brand has quickly risen to fame and provides people with something new. Saks and Potts founded this brand in order to create clothing that they thought was missing from the industry.
In the collection the brand branched out from its classic and wildly popular fur coats and produced everyday wear inspired by Saks and Potts childhood. The collection was held in the Royal Danish Opera House where the models walked down marble steps. The collection featured long coats, sheer neon green tops, maxi slip dresses, snakeskin prints, and cut-outs. The collection is perfect for a causal or a sophisticated time out.
