Brand Overview

Simon Miller is a luxury brand known for its exuberant and playful clothing. The brand was founded in 2008 and is now under the direction of Chelsea Hansford, the Creative Director, and CEO. Simon Miller was created solely as a men’s denim brand and has since evolved into a large brand with a multitude of products, focusing on womenswear. At its creation, Simon Miller was branded as a modern and timeless denim brand influenced by Japanese materials, the American southwest, the outdoors, and represented American craftsmanship.

Today, Simon Miller has created a “playful world of luxury,” according to the brand’s website, and is inspired by mid-century modern styles, striking graphics, and cinema. Simon Miller is a fresh and exciting take on retro styles that continue to be reinvented and fun to dress in. Following its foundation, Simon Miller has collaborated and been sold at brands like SSENSE, Melissa, Farfetch, Opening Ceremony, Barneys, and many more.

Designer Bio

Simon Miller has had multiple people working behind the scenes since its origin in 2008. Daniel Corrigan and Jake Sargent co-founded Simon Miller. In 2015, after roughly four years at Simon Miller, Jake Sargent sold his position at the company to pursue other career endeavors in fashion and food. Following this, in 2019 Daniel Corrigan stepped down in his role as Co-Creative Director of the company, he shared this role with Chelsea Hansford; she is now the sole Creative Director and CEO of Simon Miller.

Chelsea Hansford graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology and interned at Opening Ceremony. Hansford got to collaborate and learn from many pros, such as Olivia Kim. Hansford’s experience continued to grow as she started the brand BLK DNM. In 2013 she joined the Simon Miller team to develop the womenswear collection. Hansford relocated to Los Angeles from New York with her husband after she acquired the job and says that the city has a large impact on her work. Since her singular position, she has distinguished the brand under new aesthetics and created a unique take on mod influences.

Inspiration

Simon Miller is a playful luxury, as I like to say. And it’s a brand very much living in mid-century Los Angeles. We try not to take things too seriously.
