Bricks & Wood
Brand Overview
In 2014, contemporary streetwear brand Bricks & Wood was born in South Central, Los Angeles. The hidden meaning behind Bricks & Wood's organic name lies in its aptitude in creating balance: inspired by streetwear, yet delivering the finest quality, and catering to men and women. With an emphasis on storytelling through their creative process, they produce functional apparel influenced by the brand's roots in the urban lifestyle. They self-describe their pieces as "timeless & rare" or uniquely dub them as "rareware."
Bricks & Wood's pieces are classic in style, with a mixed color palette of vibrant and muted tones, clean cuts, and bold statement pieces. With vintage graphic tees and sweatshirts, loose-fitting baggy bottoms, and a colorful variety of headwear, Bricks is the epitome of modern streetwear. B&W intentionally manufactures clothing meant to leave a long-lasting, memorable impression on the consumer.
Designer Bio
Bricks & Wood came to fruition under South Central native Kacey Lynch, who studied Apparel & Design at Los Angeles Trade Technical College. However, fashion wasn’t always part of his original plan. Although set on pursuing his passion for basketball, this mindset changed in late high school when he gained more reverence for his father’s work in the fashion industry and decided to follow a similar pathway.
Lynch’s entrepreneurial spirit was obvious early on when he began selling his own pieces in high school before taking a more independent route, later starting the Tumblr page that would set off the inspiration and development process for Bricks & Wood. Lynch then sharpened his field expertise and knowledge when he interned for The Hundreds and worked at Creative Recreation before directing his full attention to establishing B&W.
Giving back to the community of South Central is integral to Bricks & Wood’s sense of purpose. Lynch hopes to do this by branding B&W as a platform for artistic expression, to illustrate how there are hidden gems of creativity even within smaller communities that one might not expect. Despite the brand’s ever-growing success and recognition, shown by their most recent collaboration with New Balance, Bricks & Wood’s commitment to humble authenticity still prevails.
