Boutique Background

The Row, a luxury storefront originating in New York, was born in 2006 by the infamous Olsen twins, Ashley and Mary-Kate. The Row aims to create and sell high-quality, luxurious items that are one-of-a-kind. The boutique is well known for its textiles and fabrics which exemplify just how magnificent the brand really is.

At first glance, The Row’s pieces can best be described as timeless, mature, and elegant. It doesn’t fall short of being the perfect high-end brand for someone with a business-casual style. In a lot of the label’s collections, you’ll find a classic style of garment that holds its own twist, whether it be from the unique shape or the luxury of the fabrics.

The Row offers both ready-to-wear garments, as well as a gallery of rare vintage garments, such as Chanel suits from the ‘70s or Comme des Garçons pieces from the ‘90s. On their website, you can view their runway collections from the last 2 years, organized by looks. The ability to look back on The Row’s previous works over the years helps to see how they’ve transitioned each season to keep up with the expectations of the fashion industry. You can also see how things such as defined shapes and monochrome aesthetics steadily remain as a part of The Row’s style.

The store is famously known for its location in New York, however, it also has storefronts in London and Los Angeles. Beyond its beautiful garments, each brick and mortar location is equally impressive in its architecture and design.

Overall, the Row is full of grandeur in every way.

Designers’ Bio

Everyone knows of the twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the princesses of the late ‘90s and early 2000s pop culture. However, it might come as a surprise that these fashion moguls have their own fashion brand and store, The Row. The Olsen twins, both 34 years old, are nothing if not meticulous in their attention to detail when it comes to every aspect of the Row, from the styles and fabrics to the architecture of the storefront itself.

Mary-Kate and Ashley have expanded their New York-based label all the way to the U.K., and we can only wonder if there’s more in store for the brand. In the meantime, the Olsen twins work to create a label that’s appeal and grandeur speaks for itself. Though these powerful women could use their position in the world of fame to promote the Row, it isn’t necessary—the label garners plenty of attention for its own reputation as a remarkable player in the fashion industry.

As the Row merged into Fall 2021, we see a transition into a genderless collection that features more avant-garde styles. This dark monochrome pairing features a more conservative look.

Another look in The Row’s Fall 2021 collection is Look 8, which also presents the designers’ attention to shape and lines. Not only that, but it’s evident here that the label prides itself on high-quality fabrics that make it a luxury brand.

Look 11 is one of the most outstanding creations of the Fall 2021 collection, with such unique layering that leads to a stunning overall look. Again, it’s clear here that this look can be worn by any gender, which is something really admirable about the designers’ work.

The Row dabbles in the realm of accessories, and it’s no surprise that its work is simplistic and fashionable. Coming from the ready-to-wear section of the label, the calfskin Half Moon Bag is the perfect statement piece for a classy look.

The Edi Dress from the Row’s ready-to-wear is unique for its noteworthy silk fabric, which allows this dress to hug the body in a flattering way. This piece stands out from many due to its less conservative construction. A brilliant twist to the little black dress.

Lastly, this leather crewneck-style jacket is called the Clement Jacket. It’s one of the Row’s pricier items, selling for over $5,000, but it’s worth every penny. Crafted from lambskin leather, this jacket has a very modern aesthetic, fit for anyone looking to spice up their outerwear.
